Tuesday Teachable Moment: God's Egg-stra Special Gift

Teachable Moment An Egg-stra Special Lesson after Easter

Do you still have those plastic little eggs laying around?

We do. The other day, my husband and I were talking with the kids about the eggs and Easter.

What do we celebrate at Easter? We celebrate that when Jesus died on the cross for us- he didn't stay dead. Jesus beat Satan! Jesus beat death!

On Easter we celebrate that Jesus' tomb was empty because the Son of God was ALIVE! (open an empty easter egg)

The empty egg can remind us of what we celebrate at Easter.

Now, why did Jesus do this?

Jesus died and rose again (or as my 2 year old Aaron says "rode" again) for me and you, so we can be in Heaven with Him forever. And not just that...

Jesus promises to not leave us empty. For everyone who chooses to believe in Jesus and are baptized to be his followers, Jesus fills us with something SUPER EGG-stra special. His Holy Spirit!!! (put a piece of candy in the empty egg.)

What is the Holy Spirit? God's gift to us. Himself, living in our hearts to help us and teach us everyday that we live for Him!

The candy in the eggs can remind us of this EGG-stra special gift that God has given us! The gift of his Spirit. There is nothing sweeter! :)

Side note: A few hours after this discussion Madi was talking about Jesus being her best friend. She said with excitement, "It is like I have an Easter Egg in my heart!" Awesome Mommy Moment!

Here is another little egg-stra look at Easter at the Traurig's house. When the kids got home from church this is what they discovered:

A BIG bunny left "chalky" prints all over the house!

The Easter Bunny made SUCH a mess! Madi walked into the house
with nothing but excitement. Aaron got mad and said, "Daddy, You no make
a mess! You clean this up Daddy!". Adrian tried to convince him that he was
at church and couldn't have made the mess (which he was).

Aaron to this day, refuses to believe a
Bunny was in our home but says these tracks are Daddy's. Aaron also thanked
Adrian for the games in his Easter basket. He saw his Easter basket and said,
"Oh! Daddy you buy this for me? Thank you Daddy!"
The cousins came over later and all the kids got to hunt
for eggs around the house. (Yes, I did find one egg in the
house a few days later.haha)
