Remembering 9-11

Remembering 9-11
Celebrating National Patriot Day
September 11, 2001, a day we will never forget

Thank you to all the men and women who took part in the rescue efforts on September 11, 2001. Thank you to all the men and women who have fought, since that day to keep our country safe from terrorist attacks. Let us celebrate the freedom we have today and never forget that the price for freedom is far from free.

Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.” --President George W. Bush September 11, 2001.

Eleven years later, let us continue to choose unity, encouragement, and humility. In Christ, the ground is level. In Christ we are called to serve the needs of others before our own. I could not have picked a better verse for inspiration today. Thank you to the families who lived out this verse on 9-11. Let their memory not be in vain but inspire us.

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
